As a society, we appear to think that shame is a useful motivator, but in reality it stops us from living our best lives, and serves no good purpose. Shining the bright light of enquiry onto the shame we feel can strip it of much of its power. Very often, we set ourselves an impossible task, and then feel shame because we can't plausibly complete it. Let's be a little kinder to ourselves.
